What does it look like when tomorrow’s tech leaders have an opportunity to collaborate, innovate and work on new digital ideas?
Last weekend’s SheHacks event in Sydney gave us a great insight.
SheHacks is put on every year by Girl Geek Sydney. It’s a hackathon in which 50 women in tech gather over two days to work on new digital ideas and build prototypes.
This year’s SheHacks event saw developers, designers, marketers and product specialists collaborating in small groups to make their visions a reality.
MYOB was proud to sponsor the event, providing prizes for teams who won third place and the people’s choice award.
MYOB also sent two members of the Tax Online team to help the teams work out how best to build something in such a short period of time – one of our development managers was on the judging panel as well!
The winners were announced after two days of collaboration and innovation.
First prize went to The In Crowd – an events aggregator.
In second place was Coffee Catch Ups, an app to help women in tech to stay connected with each other in between hackathons.
The third prize (awesome Sphero programmable robots thanks to MYOB) went to Sign Me Up, an ambitious voice to AUSLAN interpreter.
The winner of the popular vote went to IT Cupid, a website to connect women to learn tech skills together.
There were so many excellent ideas, but the most exciting thing was seeing how well team members worked together, and how much they all achieved in such a short space of time.
It was a great privilege to be involved in SheHacks – it’s an excellent way to demonstrate MYOB’s ongoing support of women in technology.
