Recently, we announced that Margaret Whitfield was MYOB’s Partner of the Year.
We took five with Margaret to find out what inspired her to start her own business, as well as what lies ahead for her.

My husband inspired me to take the leap.
We were discussing the opportunity for me to find a new job since the kids were ready for school and I had free time. I reflected on what I had been (a road design draftsperson with the then Queensland Main Roads Department) and decided I’d had enough of that, so what else could I do?
Our accountant always told me I was good at using MYOB so maybe I could help other people. So I googled MYOB and found the Certified Consultant Program and sat the exam and did the training in February 2004.
1. Being named MYOB’s Partner of the Year.
2. Partnership with Master Plumbers Association Queensland in conjunction with MYOB and ServiceM8 to provide services for their members.
3. Being a part of the MYOB Partner Advisory Product Group to help shape the future of our great software.
It’s a humbling experience to realise that people value what I say and what I do.
I know that I must be on the right track to helping others succeed.
I’d love to remove myself from the bookkeeping side to the business and expand the consulting side of the business.
Eventually my tradie husband will retire from his manual work and we want to have a more lifestyle-driven existence once the last child finishes school this year.
