MYOB has announced a new partnership with Beta Alpha Psi in a move that will help more talented graduates transition into the workforce with confidence.
Tertiary education is becoming increasingly vocational as students seek to define their competitive edge with experiential learning, over and above traditional academia.
In a move that will help finance, accounting and business information graduates across Australia and New Zealand find their feet, MYOB has become the first Oceania professional partner of honours organisation Beta Alpha Psi (BAP).
At its core, BAP exists to recognise academic excellence, provide a forum to develop professional skills outside of the classroom, as well as fostering a commitment to ethics and community service.
Julie Harrison, associate professor at the Graduate School of Management for The University of Auckland Business School also happens to be the BAP Oceania chapter advocate — representing the nine BAP chapters located across Australia and New Zealand.
“MYOB has been one of the University of Auckland’s strongest supporters involved with professional events, giving our students the opportunity to interact with MYOB employees and develop their business software skills,” Harrison said.
“By deepening our relationship with MYOB, we will be able to better run events where students can learn about the business technology industry, allowing students to interact not just with MYOB employees, but also with students from other universities across the Oceania region.”
Groups like BAP provide a unique opportunity for students to develop practical, transferable skills such as leadership or tech experience that may not be extensively covered in their formal education, says Harrison.
“For our students, the ability to interact with MYOB, outside of the classroom, provides them with insight into the types of jobs they might aim for once they complete their studies,” she said.
Education manager for MYOB, Shailan Patel said MYOB was proud to be extending its support to the entire region for BAP.
“Recognising the importance of providing the next generation of accountants, business owners and tech specialists with the knowledge and opportunities they require to succeed made this a logical step for the team at MYOB.”
“We’re proud to be BAP’s first professional partner organisation for this side of the world and to provide the tools, training, support and networking opportunities so their students can enter the workforce job-ready.”
