Since implementing cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform MYOB Acumatica, Monza Australia has been firing on all cylinders.
The company has retired 14 servers, more than halving their ERP costs each year while giving the IT team time back in their days.
Monza Australia is Australia’s leading importer and distributor of motorcycle accessories, apparel and protection products. It currently sells 23 brands (with more coming online later this year) and has 34,000 active items.
“We all live and breathe motorcycles,” says Chief Information Officer Craig Nichols. “It’s a bit of a cult here. Everyone rides a bike, has a bike, loves bikes.”

Moving to the cloud
In 2019, the company — which was founded in 1979 — committed to updating its IT infrastructure.
“We needed to reduce operating costs and needed to move to the cloud.” Craig says.
Previously, Monza Australia was using M3, an on-premise solution that was 15 years old and required 14 servers. The hardware was expensive to maintain and could be unreliable too, sometimes going down for days at a time.
Managing and maintaining the on-premise solution created a heavy IT admin load for Craig and the team and often necessitated after-hours work.
“Having to go home after work at 6pm, getting home at 8pm, then having to fire up the PC to run reports or make sure the web server is running or it’s done updates and integrations,” he explains. “Now when we leave work, that’s it for the day, which is great for the personal life.”

MYOB Acumatica ticked all the boxes
With standout usability and its breadth of features and functionality, MYOB Acumatica covered all the bases for Monza Australia.
“MYOB Acumatica seemed to have everything in the one box and that was a big tick for us. It looked simple, and it looked like it would be able to run our business effectively at a cost-effective rate.”

The team also took to the new system quickly: “The system is intuitive. It’s easy to see how it works and how it fits together,” Craig says.
Monza Australia worked with MYOB partner Ndevr to design, build, implement and train users on the system. “Our people adopted it so quickly that now they’re training each other,” Craig says. “It’s a system that works, it’s simple and our staff like using it.”
Supported by a dedicated partner
The Monza Australia team gained significant value from working with MYOB partner, Ndevr. “Having a great team of people to be able to review your business and then work out what is the way we can make this software do what it needs to do,” Craig says.
With Ndevr’s support, Monza Australia has been able to implement process automations they’ve wanted for the last 15 years. They’ve been able to fit the software to their business, rather than having to fundamentally change the way they do things.
Ndevr Sales Director Rob Sheldrick says, “Ndevr is about relationships. We pride ourselves on understanding our customers’ business and their goals. This enables us to apply our deep industry experience to delivering IT-based solutions — such as integration and automation — that bring genuine value to our customers.”

Software upgrades managed by experts
Ndevr manages the MYOB Acumatica updates for Monza Australia. Previously, this was a pain point for Monza Australia’s IT team of just two people who didn’t have the time or resources for this work. As a result, they hadn’t upgraded their software for 15 years, posing significant risk to the business.
With MYOB Acumatica there are two major upgrades a year, which are supplemented by smaller additional feature releases. Ndevr provides Monza Australia with a sandbox environment to test scenarios and proactively ensure everything works as it should before the upgrades go live.
This way, Ndevr can also help with any questions or issues that may arise.Having a single platform streamlines the software upgrade process.
“It’s purchasing, sales, inventory management, payroll, reporting all in one box. It’s one process, one upgrade for the whole lot.”
— Chief Information Officer Craig Nichols
Craig says: “MYOB Acumatica is and has been the best and simplest implementation I’ve been involved in. And as an ongoing platform for our business, I’m so happy that we went down this path in 2019 and that I can now have a bit of life back after the IT day.
“Thanks Rob and the team at Ndevr for helping us get there.”
